Reality TV star and 2022 Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) winner, Phyna, has announced her decision to drop her family surname, citing a lack of connection with her relatives.

In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Phyna revealed her struggles with her identity and familial ties. “I am publicly dropping my family surname OTABOR… it has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about,” she wrote.
Phyna further disclosed that she is grappling with unanswered questions about her origins. “I’m still searching for answers though… it’s been rough with me lately… I’m in a place where I can’t even describe how I feel or what to call what I’m going through,” she added.
Reflecting on her upbringing, she said, “Going up and the way I was tossed around relatives, I should have suspected, but I guess I was too young… omo my head wan tear!!!!!!”
This announcement follows a public feud with her family last year, during which her father accused her of cutting ties and ignoring their calls. The incident sparked a social media frenzy, with fans weighing in on the strained relationship.
