“The cheque presentation is part of the Group Life Assurance Benefits and IGP Family Welfare Insurance Schemes, an initiative by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to support families and next of kin of deceased police officers who died while in active service,” the statement read.

The presentation took place on October 21, 2024, at the Command Headquarters in Maiduguri.

The statement further revealed that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP A.M. Bello, presented the cheques on behalf of the Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP M.L. Yusufu. The total sum of ₦60.5 million was given to 34 families of fallen or injured officers.
