An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded eight men in a correctional centre for alleged armed robbery.

The defendants include Sodiq Masaku, 22;  Oladimeji Olatubosun, 24; Oluseye Agbaje, 21; Daniel Ayomide, 20.

Others are; Michael Ademola. 22; Olamide Johnson, 20; Abiodun Opeyemi, 22 and Adebayo Oluwatonbi, 22.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Ajibade, who did not take their pleas, ordered that the file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

Ajibade adjourned the case until March, July 19 for mention.

The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, face a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.

The Prosecutor, ASP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on April 30 at 10.30 p.m. at Railway Crossing, Ikeja, Lagos.

Ajayi said that the defendants armed themselves with a gun and other dangerous weapons and robbed a jewellery store belonging to Oloruntola Opabola.

She said that the defendants carted away a gold necklace valued at N1 million and a cash sum of N365 000.

Ajayi also said that the defendants also robbed a phone shop belonging to Mr Oluwatobi Ogoyemi.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 299 and 297(b) and the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
