The Kano State Fire Service has retrieved the lifeless body of an unidentified man who fell into a well in Kano on Saturday.

The spokesman for the Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying, “Today, Saturday, 2nd November 2024, at approximately 16:15 hours, the central control room of the department received a call for emergency assistance from the DPO of Kwalli Police Division.”

According to the report, the control room received word of a lifeless body found in a well at an uncompleted building in Kadama Bakin Titi, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano.

“Our team arrived at the scene of the incident at approximately 16:40 hours and noticed some dried blood stains around the well,” Abdullahi stated. “When the rescue team peered into the well, they discovered the decomposing body of a man, approximately 25 years old, whose identity remains unknown and unfamiliar to residents in the area.”

The spokesman added that the state of the body suggested the man had been in the well for around four days. “The body was swollen, indicating that he must have been in the well for the last four days or thereabouts, according to local residents,” he said.

The rescue team subsequently removed the body from the well and handed it over to ASP Sani Abdulhamid, DCO2 of Kumbotso Police Division, Abdullahi confirmed.
