The incumbent Deputy Governor of Kano state Dr. Nasir Yusif Gawuna who doubles as the All Progressive Congress Gubernatorial Candidate for the forthcoming elections is the brain behind giant strides and successes being recorded in the agricultural sector for almost a decade in kano state.

Dr. Nasir Yusif Gawuna who is a grass root politician has served as the commissioner of agriculture in kano for almost eight years.

During these years he had portrayed expertise and decorum in handling the affairs of the ministry which lead to his emergence as the best commissioner of agriculture in all 36 states of the federation including FCT.

During his stewardship as the commissioner of agriculture, enabling environment was provided for farmers which pave way for them to have access to funding, provision of quality, and adequate fertilizer through the kano state Agricultural Supply Company/(Kasco), these features lead to go to a high increase in yield production.

Dr. Nasir Yusif Gawuna’s expertise and dedication Strategically worked out to partner with the World Bank and Islamic Development Bank, which gave birth to programs like the Kano Agro pastoral development project, and the Agro-processing productivity enhancement and livelihood improvement support project, under this program farmers were being trained and provided with inputs.

The Deputy Governors’ commitment lead to the introduction of programs at the largest grains market in sub-Sahara Africa, popularly known as Dawanau which improved the quality and reservation process to zero rejection during the exportation of commodities.

No doubt, Gawuna’s tireless efforts in the transformation of the agricultural sector would not be overemphasized, women and youths were being trained and empowered in various fields of Agriculture, some in poultry, fishing, and dairy, and 1700 youths and women were being empowered under the Agricultural sector, while 6857 males were trained and 2000 females, all during his meritorious service as the commissioner of agriculture

Dr. Nasir Yusuf Gawuna’s efforts paved the way to so many linkages whereby cottage and processing centers were constructed, which developed the sector positively.

Under his stewardship, many projects were being introduced, Among which include APPEALS, KSADP, and training farmers on mechanized farming, among others

Gawuna who was described by his political Allies as “Wake Dan Wuri” need not be reintroduced to the electorates because he had for the past twenty years rendered selfless services to the people of the state, he had won several awards and recognitions in kano state and beyond.

Dr. Nasir Yusif Gawuna was versatile in all aspects of governance, be if in the aspect of uplifting the healthcare service delivery, Education, Agriculture, Commerce, and tourism among others

Gawuna had been a member of the state executive council for many years which allow him to have the opportunity and experience of adequate governance, hence electorates should consider this and make the right choice
