The member representing Bichi Federal Constituency from Kano state, Alhaji Abubakar Kabir Abubakar has donated assorted text books, writing materials, sundry boarding house items and cash, totaling N24, 522, 200, to 509 science and technical schools’ students in his constituency.

A breakdown of the donation indicates that N11, 118, 800 was for assorted text books, N606, 100 for writing materials, N5, 162, 300 for boarding house materials and N7, 635, 000 for upkeep.

Speaking during the disbursement of the educational assistance in Bichi town, Alhaji Abubakar Kabir explained that the donation was to complement the Free and Compulsory Education policy of the Kano state government.

Alh. Abubakar, who is the chairman, House committee on Works said: “education is vital to the progress of any society so, I have a responsibility to spend money to assist towards the success of the free and compulsory education policy in Kano”.

He added: “it is my hope that through such interventions, my constituency will produce medical doctors, engineers and other professionals, who will contribute to making this country a greater geopolitical entity”.

“There is no investment better or more rewarding than education because of its importance in any human endeavor. I will, therefore, continue to contribute to the educational advancement of my constituency, my state and the country at large.

He tasked students from Bichi Federal constituency to prioritize academic and moral excellence in order to attain greater heights in life.

The law maker further appealed to beneficiaries of his donation to make the best use of the opportunity, pointing out that doing so will encourage well-meaning individuals and groups to contribute more to the development of public education.

It could be recalled that a few months ago, Alh. Abubakar Kabir donated stationeries and text books worth millions of Naira to 1,340 Senior Secondary School form one students, from the 16 public secondary schools in his constituency.

Apart from this, the legislator has constructed classroom blocks in public primary and secondary schools in the constituency, to widen access to quality education.
