After allegedly being seen praying for a dying elderly patient, a Nigerian healthcare worker in the United Kingdom (UK) was fired and deported.

A popular Nigerian doctor, Olufunmilayo, stated on social media that it was unethical in the UK for nurses to incorporate religion into their duties.

Although it was not customary for nurses to pray for patients, he stated that it was expected of them to ask a cleric to perform any religious service on them, even if the patient requested it.

Olufunmilayo stated that he revealed the incident to warn Nigerian doctors moving to the United Kingdom not to pray for patients.

“Praying for your patient is seen as an abuse of trust and misuse of your position,” the doctor continued. You are expected to simply do your job and concentrate on it.”
