Police arrest kidnappers, rescue victims in Kano

Operatives of Operation Restore Peace in the Kano state police command have arrested two suspected kidnappers for allegedly abducting two minors from Bachirawa Quarters in Ungogo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, Nura Auwal and Abubakar Lawal upon kidnapping their victims sent handwritten letters with mobile phone numbers and bank account details to their parents for communication and payment of twenty million naira ransom, of which two million naira was agreed, after a bargain.

On receiving reports of the Kidnap, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mamman Dauda, consequently instructed teams of Operation Restore Peace led by SP Aliyu Muhammad Auwal, Officer in Charge of the State’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, to rescue the victims and arrest the culprits.

According to a presser by the Kano state Police Public Relations Officer, the teams simultaneously swung into action and sustained efforts coupled with intelligence-led operations resulted in the arrest of the two suspects, who are residents of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters Kano, Bachirawa Quarters Kano.

“Victims were rescued unhurt at an uncompleted building. On preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to having conspired and kidnapped the two children and sent letters to their parents with phone numbers and bank account details requesting a ransom.” The statement read.

Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
