Police to arraign 4 suspects in connection to death at government lodge in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command on Tuesday said an autopsy has been conducted on the corpse of a lady who died at the government lodge in Damaturu.

The autopsy was conducted at the University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, to unravel the actual cause of death.

A statement from ASP Dungus Adul-Kareem, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) said, the Post-Mortem Examination revealed that the deceased died as a result of Cardio-Respiratory Failure resulting from excessive use of Drugs (or Drug overdose).

Recall that on the 7th January 2021 at about 0700hrs, the Yobe State Police Command apprehended four suspects in connection with the death of Balkisu Ali (F), who died at the Government Lodge, Damaturu.

The case has been under investigation at the state CID, Damaturu.

Dungus said, with the conclusion of investigations, suspects will soon be arraigned in court for charges, other than homicide, including Criminal Conspiracy, Procurement and Adultery.

“The Yobe State Police Command is calling on all and sundry to desist from peddling unfounded rumours that could be detrimental to the interest of the deceased family and the general security in the State.” The statement said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP. YS Abubakar has assured the good people of Yobe State of ensuring public safety and security while soliciting for their cooperation and support.
