The police in Kano State have arraigned a man identified as Bashir Abubakar Brigade before a Kano Shariโa Court sitting in Fagge โYan Alluna over alleged theft of mobile phones during a wedding ceremony.

Bashir, who is a praise singer, was accused of stealing two mobile phones belonging to friends of the groom. According to the police, the stolen phones were valued at N125,000 and N25,000 respectively.
During the court proceedings, state prosecuting counsel Barr. Zaharaddeen Mustapha presented the charges against the suspect, which included conspiracy to commit a crime and stealing. However, Bashir pleaded not guilty, stating, “I am not a thief; I am a praise singer.”
The presiding Khadi, Umar Lawan Abubakar, granted Bashir bail on the condition that he provides a blood relative as a guarantor and a certificate of ownership for a house he possesses.
The case has been adjourned till November 25 for witness testimony.
