Stanley Bobbi ‘Bobo’ Nwabali is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays goalkeeper for Premier Soccer League club Chippa United and the Nigeria national team.
Nwabali, who is originally from Imo State, was born on June 10, 1996, in Rivers State to an Igbo Christian family and raised in Port Harcourt. Stanley will turn the age of 28 old in 2024.
Nwabali married Nkechi Nwabali, a fashion designer and businesswoman. They have two children: Bobo Junior (boy) and Adaora (daughter).
Stanley Nwabili joined Go Round FC in 2019 before signing with Enyimba in 2020.
In the international arena, Stanley Nwabili made history by getting his first cap for the Nigerian national team playing a friendly against Mexico in the United States.
Stanley Nwabali has progressed from a relatively unnoticed player to Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023).
Nwabali was originally scouted by Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro last year, and he was named to the Portuguese coach’s provisional squad for AFCON 2023.
Standley Nwabali was later given a starting spot in Nigeria’s pre-tournament friendly against Guinea on January 8 in Abu Dhabi, which the Super Eagles lost 2-0.
However, the Chippa United goalkeeper has only improved since then, earning Peseiro’s faith and replacing Francis Uzoho as the national team’s first-choice shot-stopper.
Nwabali became the hero of Nigeria’s 2024 Africa Cup of Nations campaign as he saved two penalties in a shootout against South Africa in the semi-finals, advancing the team to the final.
He also kept a clean sheet in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Ivory Coast to win their fourth African Cup of Nations title.
Stanley Nwabali is currently Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper in all international competitions.
