Nigeria is now ranked 42nd in FIFA’s most recent ranking, which was released on November 30, 2023.

The three-time African champions have dropped two places since their last ranking, which was announced at the end of October.

In November, the Super Eagles played two competitive matches, drawing their first two 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, two nations ranked lower than them in the FIFA rankings.

The Super Eagles are Africa’s sixth best team, trailing only Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt. South Africa, Benin, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Lesotho are ranked 66th, 97th, 124th, 133rd, and 148th in the 2026 World Cup African qualifying series, respectively.

Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau are ranked 50th, 88th, and 103rd in their respective Africa Cup of Nations groups.

Argentina remains the world’s top-ranked team, followed by France, England, Belgium, Brazil, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Croatia in that order.
