The Super Eagles finished second in the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), hosted by Côte d’Ivoire.

All of the team members, dressed in green, and officials were present, including Alex Iwobi, who had faced cyber attacks following Nigeria’s defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the recently concluded African Cup of Nations.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu praised the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice in getting this far in the tournament, acknowledging the obstacles they overcame with steadily improving performance as they advanced to the finals.

The President had urged Nigerians to be cheerful, emphasising that our grit, rigour and determination on the pitch earned us a great victory in the hearts of Africa and the world.

“Let this passing event not discourage us, but rather bring us together to work harder. We are a great nation united under the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and unwavering love.

“To those cherished Nigerian youths expressing their gifts in communities, drawing lines in the sand while playing football in their humble rectangles of play, you can be our heroes tomorrow; do not give up. “My administration is here to make dreams come true,” the president declared.

Recall that on Sunday night, the host Ivory Coast defeated Super Eagles 2-1 in the finals of the 2023 African Nations Cup (AFCON).
