Former Chief of Army Staff, General Inuwa Wushishi, is dead.

Wushishi was appointed as Chief of Army Staff by President Shehu Shagari in October 1981 and served in that capacity until December 31 when the government was overthrown by the military.

He reportedly died on Saturday evening at a United Kingdom (UK) hospital at the of 81.
