On Tuesday, a 22-year-old fashion designer named Miracle Oche appeared before the Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on charges of allegedly conspiring to steal an iPhone 6s valued at N75,000.

The police accused Oche, who resides in the Ketu, Mile 12 area of Lagos, of both conspiracy and theft in relation to the incident.

During the court proceedings, Oche pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

According to the prosecutor, Insp Sunday Bassey, the alleged offence took place on June 21 at Ikosi Road, Ketu, Lagos.

Oche, along with another individual who is still at large, entered the shop of the complainant, Mrs Olayinka Olayemi.

Bassey explained that the two individuals claimed they were interested in purchasing an iPhone 6 valued at N75,000.

After examining the phone, the accomplice left the shop with it.

When confronted outside, he claimed he was going to get food for his friend, the defendant (Oche), who remained in the shop.

However, Oche’s friend failed to return with the phone, leading to Oche’s subsequent arrest.

The charges leveled against Oche are in violation of Section 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.Magistrate M.O Tanimola granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000, and he must produce two sureties who can match the bail amount.

The court scheduled the next hearing for August 25 for mention of the case.
