Prof. Reuben Okechukwu, the Provost, Federal College of Education (Technical), Isu in Ebonyi, says the school will commence academic activities in October.

This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abakiliki by Mr Monday Uzor, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of the state.

The statement noted that the provost made the remark, when he led members of the management of the college on a courtesy visit to Gov. David Umahi.

It quoted the provost to have promised that the college would institute a policy of responsibility anchored on discipline and integrity, in line with its mandate.

He also stated that as missionaries and agents of the education industry, they would develop and deliver access and quality education to the nation’s future leaders.

He stated that the college was still battling with a lot of challenges.

He, therefore, solicited the support of the state government to grow and develop the institution into the best centre for teacher education in Nigeria.

In a response, Umahi, represented by his deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe, was said to have called on the Federal Government to take necessary steps for the effective take-off of the college.

“Ours as the government is to complement and give a facelift to what has been brought to the land of Ebonyi to march with the level of infrastructure development we have put in place as a pace-setting standard in the state,” he said. (NAN)
