The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its nationwide protest which was slated for Thursday, Jan 27th and February 2 2022.

The NLC explained that it took the decision at its National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday morning.

Congress said the move to suspend the action came after the decision to stop the subsidy on petrol by the Federal Government.

Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, told journalist that the Nigerian government realised the timing of its planned removal of petrol subsidy became problematic, which will further exacerbate the suffering of Nigerians.

Meanwhile, Mr Wabba noted that the decision to suspend the protest was based on the suspension of the proposal to stop the subsidy on petrol by the federal government.

“Following the reversal and re-approach by the government, the National Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress had an emergency virtual meeting this morning to consider the new position of the government,” Mr Wabba said.
