Following the continuous attacks on campuses in schools, Muslim students society of Nigeria MSSN will set up its own security structure accross north.

This, among other productive resolutions were concluded in a communique at the end of the 34th National Higher Institution Convention of Muslim Students (NHICOMS) which has brought together 145 registered participants from various institutions across the 19 northern states and Abuja, also leaders of the Society from Area Units and Area Councils.

The participants who converged in Kaduna polytechnic deliberated on burning issues affecting the society at large, observed there is monstrous insecurity ravaging campuses, several state across the federation threatening the peace, unity and stability of the nation, cases of atheism ideology on the increase on the campuses targeting brothers and sisters, kidnapping and banditry are on the increase in schools in the North.

Again, brought to the table for delibration by the worrying students religious society, was the menace of ethno-religious crises, protest, kidnaping and killing of innocent citizens among others, were brought to the table for discussion.

They observed the present generations is having setback in Adhakars and standing firm to Islamic jurisprudence, at the end, therefore unanimously agreed that, all branches of the MSSN in Northern Nigeria to set up security structures to partner with existing security outfits of their respective institutions, “the MSSN A-Zone shall partner with security agencies to train her members basic self-defense techniques and the role that Muslim students could play towards ensuring effective security on campuses

“The ethno- religious crises, protests, and kidnapping in our country have continue to increase every day, our campuses have become unsafe, secondary schools been attached among others Nigerian Government must buckle up and put all within it reach to secure our campuses schools and our society”, the communique reads.

They have asked that all branches should re-intensify Da’awah activities in order to forestall the spread of ideologies that seek to undermine Islamic values.

The communique which spoke the mind of the society, also appealed to the governor of Kaduna state, Mal. Nasiru el-Rufa’i to revisit and review the recent increase in tuition fees of tertiary institutions across Kaduna state with a view to making it more affordable to the less privileged students.

Meanwhile they extended condolences to the families of members who lost their loved ones recently.

This year’s NHICOMS convention which featured paper presentation on topics of societal importance, debates by representatives of state Area Units, and higher institutions aimed at teaching the participants research skills, public speaking, and writing, among others, in order to prepare them for future challenges has it theme: RAISING SECURITY CONSCIOUSNESS ON OUR CAMPUSES: THE ROLE OF MSSN.
