1. US govt reacts as Soludo wins Anambra election, states demand for 2023 poll

The United States Government has applauded the just-concluded Anambra State Governorship Election.

This was contained in a statement on from the US Mission in Nigeria.

In it, the US government stated that the result of the poll reflected the will of the people.

2. APC may opt for direct primaries

Details of the discussions and outcome of Tuesday night’s APC Caucus meeting are now emerging as sources in attendance say the party is now building a consensus on adopting direct primaries, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

NAN reports that direct primary, which is now used in some form in all states in America, functions as a preliminary election whereby voters decide their party’s candidates.

3. Why Twitter suspension has not been lifted, by FG

The Federal Government has said the suspension of Twitter has not been lifted because the company has met 10 out of the 12 conditions given it.

The government however raised the hope of Nigerians that it is a matter of time before all issues with Twitter are resolved.

But it clarified that the suspension of Twitter had nothing to do with issues bordering on President Muhammadu Buhari.

4. FG approves waiver for employment into health, defence, paramilitary

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given a waiver for employment in health, defence and paramilitary to ensure that those who leave for greener pastures were replaced.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige explained that the waiver was granted by the government despite an embargo on recruitment into public service.

Ngige disclosed this at the 2022 Budget Defence of his Ministry at the House of Representatives in Abuja.

5. Senate approves Buhari’s $16bn, €1bn loan request

The Senate on Wednesday approved the sum of $16,230,077,718, €1,020,000,000 and a grant of $125,000,000 as foreign loans for the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to fund its legacy projects.

The red chamber specifically approved the issuance of €500,000,000 from the Bank of Industries and €750,000,000 Eurobond in the International Capital Market.

It asked the President to forward the terms and conditions of the loans from the funding agencies to the National Assembly.

6. ICPC says many constituency projects in Kano, Jigawa states poorly executed

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it has tracked 300 constituency projects in Kano and Jigawa states this year.

Its Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner in Kano and Jigawa states, Barrister Ibrahim Garba-Kagara, told newsmen in Kano on Wednesday that some of the projects were either poorly executed or were not executed at all.

The constituency and executive projects tracking include construction of hospitals and schools and the provision of streetlights and agricultural equipment among others, he said.

7. El-Rufai under fire for using Twitter despite ban

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai surfaced on the microblogging platform, Twitter, on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, despite the ban placed on the app by the Federal Government and Nigerians are not having it.

The Governor whose last tweet was on June 6, a day after the Nigerian government suspended the activities of Twitter, caught the attention of Nigerians when he replied to a fan praising him for his works as the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

8. Ikoeba describes Ronaldo as a minus

Former Nigeria International, Victor Ikpeba has described Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘a minus one’ for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United team.

The former Nigerian striker went ahead to advise Solskjaer to drop the Portuguese superstar on the bench.

Manchester United’s last game before the International break was a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City and Ikpeba also questioned the tactics deployed by Solskjaer.

9. Xavi Hernandez has now confirmed his members of staff after taking the Barcelona head coach role

The Blaugrana legend was confirmed as Ronald Koeman‘s replacement on Monday when he was unveiled to supporters at Camp Nou.
