Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, assured Nigerians on Sunday that he will be fair and just to all.

Tinubu gave the assurance while speaking at a TownHall meeting with Muslim Leaders from South West in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The APC candidate praised the country’s religious leaders for their ongoing prayers and sermons, which he said had contributed to unity and peaceful coexistence.

Tinubu urged Islamic clerics to educate their followers on the importance of exercising their franchise and voting only tested candidates with a track record of excellent public service, “rather than falling for the lies and gimmicks of those who have nothing to offer” in the upcoming 2023 general elections.

“This election season has been a hybrid of facts and falsehood, truth and lies,” Tinubu said, speaking partly in Yoruba. I want the election to be based on facts and truth.

“What is a candidate’s track record, and what are his policies?” I ask you to encourage your followers to vote and to vote wisely. Vote for a candidate who envisions a peaceful, prosperous Nigeria where tolerance and compassion are the foundations of our constitutional and legal rights.”

He then assured Nigerians that he would be a “fair and just leader,” adding, “My pledge for fairness and justice is consistent with the tenets of Islam.”

“In a plural society like ours, a leader must be a leader of all.” If elected, I intend to govern in an honest and democratic manner in accordance with our country’s constitution.”

Tinubu promised to use his experience as governor of Lagos State to lead Nigeria in the “same spirit of innovation and pragmatic vision to uplift the nation and renew the hope of Nigerians.”

On security, Tinubu pledged to put an end to the reign of terror, kidnappings, and other violent crimes by recruiting more personnel who would be trained and retrained, as well as providing more security tools and gadgets to combat criminal elements.

According to Tinubu, the nation‘s economy will be diversified and restructured to achieve at least 6% annual growth. These objectives would be met through industrial policy reforms, infrastructure improvements, power sector innovation, and significant budgetary reforms.

“In terms of the economy, we seek to repair the economy’s very structure.” We can no longer thrive as a resource-extraction-based economy.
