The Kano State Police Command at Bompai arrested an 18 years old suspect identified as Hassan Isah, who removed an eyeball of a 12-year-old Mustapha.
SP Abdullah Haruna Kiyawa PPRO, Kano State Police Command Bompai, confirmed the incident around 3 pm after an emergency call from a resident of Sheka in Kumbotso LGA.
The suspect is said to have disconnected the victim’s eye from the socket in search of a talisman.

The suspect, Hassan Isah, resident of Dan Tsinke in Tarauni LGA, narrated that he was instructed to bring a human eye by an older woman named Furaira Abubakar.
Hassan further explained, “I asked her grandchild Muhammed, where can I get a vanishing charm? He told me his grandmother has the charm. I met her to fortify me, and she instructed me to bring the eye of a human.
“She said if I can bring the eye, she will prepare the charm for me, so on my way, I met Mustapha, which I deceived to send him on an errand. After we crossed a pond at Dan Tsinke, I tied his hands and removed his eyeball with a knife.”
The suspect added that “After I took the eye to her, she requested 500 Naira to complete the remaining charm ingredients, so I kept the eye inside a rag and dropped it in water.
“After four days of side hustle, I returned and gave her the 500 Naira she requested, but as I took the money to her, I saw the eye had decayed, which I disposed of.
The victim narrates his ordeal.
Mustapha Inusa, the victim, who is an Almajiri from Kebbi state, narrated that “I was begging for food to feed at the roadside when he saw me and called me for an errand, which he promised to give me food, he took me far away to the Bush and removed my eyes.
“I slept in the bush until morning when I came back in a pool of blood, and I can only see with a single eye now”.
The alleged conjure woman reacts
Seidah Furaira, a 100-year-old, resident of Dan Tsinke denied asking Hassan Isah to bring a human eye for an amulet, narrating that “I didn’t ask him to get an eye, my work is to help people cure illnesses such as headaches, Joint dislocation and child illness.
“I don’t have any relationship with the victim, but I leave him with God to judge us,” she said.
We demand justice – Victim’s family
In an interview with the victim’s brother narrated that at around 1 am, he received a phone call that the suspect had been arrested and said, “we appreciated the effort of the security operatives for arresting the suspect, but the incident was a devastating one, we are seeking justice against this act”.
The victim is at Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, receiving treatment.
While the case has been transferred to Commerce Criminal Investigation Department, after which the suspect will be charged for prosecution.
