Police in Benue confirmed on Tuesday that two persons have been killed in a crisis between Mbasombo and Mbaivur communities in Gwer Local Government Area of the state.
This is contained in a statement issued in Makurdi by police spokesperson, SP Sewuese Anene.
According to the statement, the renewed crisis began on Feb. 28.
“We got information that some mischievous persons burnt down the house of deceased DSP Emmanuel Agber at Ikpayongo.

“A reaction from some members of the community led to destruction of some more houses,’’ Anene stated.
He added that series of meetings had been held in the past two years and peaceful resolutions made to ensure that peace was restored between the two communities, but some miscreants were still fomenting trouble.
He stated also that police personnel had been deployed in the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
Anene added that the police were committed to bringing the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book. (NAN)
