Ahead of Thursday evening’s 2022 World Cup qualifying match at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos where the Super Eagles will face the Central African Republic, Watford central defender William Troost-Ekong has warned his Super Eagles teammates that the Central African Republic will not be pushovers.

While the Super Eagles have collected a maximum of six points in Group C of qualifying thanks to back-to-back wins against Liberia and Cape Verde, Les Fauves have one point from their opening two games.

Speaking at Wednesday’s press conference monitored by allnigeriasoccer, Troost-Ekong said: “We have seen the videos CAR what they have been doing in their most recent games.

“They look like a very physical team and it’s going to be a big challenge for us tomorrow.

“We are taking every training seriously, we never underestimate anyone, the boys have been training very seriously”.

Lagosians are very knowledgeable about football and Troost-Ekong is looking forward to playing in front of these fans.

“It’s going to be nice to be playing in front of our fans again here in Lagos.

Everybody knows how passionate Lagosians are and how important this game is going to be for us. We are looking forward to tomorrow, we want to start this game well especially as we know we are going to be facing them again on Sunday.

“Troost-Ekong, one of the untouchable players in Gernot Rohr’s ideal starting line-up, is expected to partner either Rangers’ Leon Balogun or Leganes’ Kenneth Omeruo in central defence against the Central African Republic. [Allnigeriasoccer]
