From Muhammad Bukar, Kano
In a desperate attempt to win the next general elections, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has deployed hundreds of tricycle operators for door-to-door campaign movements.
The Kano-based tricycle operators are planning to display Atiku Abubakar campaign banners on their vehicles, as well as play PDP Presidential Candidate jingles while transporting passengers.
Dr Baraka Sani, the Director General of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, who devised the strategy, told reporters in Kano that the goal was to include tricycle operators in the PDP campaign trails for economic benefits.
Dr. Baraka Sani explained that they decided to use Tricycle Operators so that they could bring their families, relatives, and even passengers to the Atiku Campaign trails.
“However, you should know that we are not just using and dumping the tricycle operators now; after we win, we have a strong measure that we will use to have the same people benefit from the government.”
“You know Atiku Abubakar has promised to secure $10 billion for youth and women economic development, and in this context, the tricycle operators would greatly benefit from gesture,” Baraka Sani added.
Mallam Nura Tanko, a tricycle operator brought in to participate in the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Trails, said he has been a PDP member all his political life and this is just a reward for his long time loyalty to the party.
“We will mobilize ourselves to ensure that we vigorously campaign for Atiku Abubakar in Kano and some parts of northern Nigeria until he wins,” Tanko assured.
