In a colloquium on Sunday in Kano, organized by the Kano-Jigawa Professional Forum (KJPF) candidates across political parties vying for various positions have been provided professional support to the socioeconomic development of Kano and Jigawa states.
In his welcome address at the event with the theme ‘Setting of Development Agenda for Kano and Jigawa States’, the Director, Mambayya House, Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Studies, Bayero University Kano (BUK), Prof Ismail M Zango says the forum is aiming at strengthening the institutions and sectors and also enhance their performance.
He added that the forum is supporting the candidates in the two states with strategies to overcome their socioeconomic challenges by turning crises into opportunities.
“Consequently, more than 150 professionals of diverse backgrounds from the two states and beyond living in different parts of the world were involved in the project.
” We covered eight work streams namely; education, health governance, social and economy, infrastructure and and logistics among others.
“Others are technology, legal and regulatory frameworks as well as media and communications.
“The work streams worked and produced documents that covered current situation, challenges, and proffered solutions on the way forward to propel the state on the right trajectory of development” he stated.
Earlier, in his speech the Chairman of the KJPF stated that the need for such roadmap cannot be overemphasised especially as the North has a lot of work to do.
He therefore announced that the same initiative will be extended to other states in the North.
