This development follows earlier clashes in these areas in December, which resulted in the deaths of two residents.

“In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on community-centered policing and strategic security measures, the command engaged security stakeholders, including ward heads, local vigilante groups, elders, and businessmen,” Kiyawa stated.

He further revealed that public enlightenment campaigns were conducted across radio, television, and social media platforms to raise awareness on security measures.

“From December 13 – 16, 2024, clearance operations within Kano metropolis resulted in the arrest of 24 suspected thugs and the recovery of dangerous weapons. All suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations,” he added.

The Commissioner of Police expressed gratitude to the residents of Kano for their cooperation and support, while reaffirming the command’s dedication to maintaining law and order in the state.
