Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will address the Royal Institute of International Affairs, also known as Chatham House, in London today.
This comes seven years after President Muhammadu Buhari addressed Chatham House as the APC presidential candidate on February 25, 2015.
Tinubu is scheduled to speak on security, the economy, and foreign policy at the United Kingdom’s prestigious Foreign and Policy Think-tank.
Tinubu spoke at Chatham House in 2011 about the rebirth of the opposition in Nigerian politics. The topic of the session was “Democracy and the Rebirth of the Opposition in Nigeria.”
Tinubu will speak about “his vision and recently unveiled manifesto for’renewing hope’ in Nigeria, including his policy proposals for economic reform and revival, as well as how to provide secure and inclusive job opportunities for Nigerian citizens.”
The event is part of a series of activities and publications examining Nigeria’s elections and political developments in 2023.
Meanwhile, the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation has mocked Tinubu’s visit to Chatham House in the United Kingdom, claiming that the voters he needs to address are waiting for him in Nigeria, not Chatham.
Kola Ologbondiyan, the spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization, stated, “It is pathetic that Asiwaju Tinubu had to travel to the United Kingdom under the guise of an appointment at Chatham House just to avoid Nigerians and the media at home for fear of being questioned on his many political baggage, miserable gaffes, fictitious plans, and the meaningless programmes encapsulated in renewed hopelessness.”
“The APC presidential candidate is always looking for a public arena where he can rely on scripted messages rather than allowing Nigerians to scrutinize him.”
“It is critical for his handlers to understand that Nigerians are concerned that Asiwaju Tinubu will eventually cause our country great international embarrassment by displaying his constant gaffes on the International Stage at Chatham House.”
“In any case, while the APC presidential candidate is forum shopping abroad, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is touring the country and directly engaging Nigerians on credible platforms with his people-centered and national recovery plans, policies, and programs for our country.”
“Our campaign urges Nigerians to ignore the antics of the APC and its presidential candidate in order to vote for Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 Presidential election so that he can lead the charge in the onerous task of rebuilding our nation,” he said.
