The Sokoto State chapter of the All Progressives Congress( APC), has adopted a consensus options for its local government congresses across the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Alhaji Sadiq Achida, the State APC Chairman, made the disclosure while addressing newsmen on Saturday in the Sokoto North LGA APC secretariat.

Achida said that this followed the meeting of APC stakeholders at local and state levels.

“The decision was taken unanimously after several meetings of stakeholders in the state, following the directive from the National Headquarters on the adoption of consensus candidates.

“We have chosen the consensus option in order to sustain our unity in Sokoto to maintain our popularity as a party,” he said.

Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs while addressing delegates at the Bodinga APC LGA secretariat, said the party has decided to chose leaders with proven integrity to steer its affairs, ahead of 2023 general elections.

“We have decided to go on consensus in order to unite our party members toward confronting the 2023 general elections with full force and ensure the mandate of our people truly reveals.

“Out of the options provided by our party National Headquarters we chose to go for consensus, being the best for us to ensure peace and unity of APC members in Sokoto,” he said.

Dingyadi advised newly elected officials across the 23 LGAs of the state to maintain their integrity and be ready to work for the progress of the party.

At the Sokoto South, where the former Deputy Governor Ahmed Aliyu was in attendance alongside former lawmaker at the House of Representative Mr Bala Hassan, the congress was peaceful.

Aliyu urged the party faithful to sustain their commitments towards taking the party to greater heights.

Aliyu, who is the Secretary of, Police Trust Fund (PTF), said that the APC was ready to take over the Sokoto Government House in 2023.

Alhaji Suleiman Abubakar, the Chairman of, APC Congress Committee, lauded the smooth conduct of the congress. (NAN)
