The Kaduna State Police Command has paraded a notorious bandit identified as Usman Abubakar of ring road, Asikolaye Kaduna.

Parading the suspect before journalists, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), ASP, Muhammed Jalige, said the 41-Years Old Usman Abubakar, a native of Adakpa village Bukkuyum Local Government area of Zamfara state, has been terrorising Chikun, Igabi, and Giwa local government of the State.

According to him, the Suspect confessed to kidnapped many people and collected several ransoms.

He also added that the suspect has a link with a recent attack on Greenfield University, Bethel Baptist Academy, and School of Forestry Mechanization, Mando Kaduna.

“Investigation has since commenced, and the suspect is currently assisting the police with vital information on how to arrest his criminal accomplices.”

Similarly, he announced the foiled bandits’ attack and neutralisation of one bandit.

According to the PPRO, the command received a distress call yesterday morning that some armed bandits in large numbers blocked Kaduna- Abuja highway close to a bridge along with Katamari village and were berserkly shooting at motorists.

“The Command immediately mobilised personnel of Operation Puff Adder 1 at Rijana Nipping Point, and they responded swiftly and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel, which resulted in the dead of one of the bandits while others scampered into the forest with varying degrees of gun wounds.

“Unluckily, a commercial driver and his conductor of a vehicle with Reg. No. Lagos KDR 602 XF were cut up in the crossfire, and both also lost their lives. The security risks levels have been raised, and all personnel at Nipping Points along the said expressway are placed on Red Alert to prevent any threat of further attack.

“Meanwhile, motorists are plying the road freely. The neutralised bandit’s corpse will be recovered to the Command Anti-Kidnapping Unit for profiling and forensic analysis. At the same time, those of the driver and his conductor have been deposited at St. Gerald Hospital Kakuri”, he said.
