The Minister of Defence, rtd Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi, on Friday arrived in Maiduguri on an assessment visit, accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor and Service Chiefs.

Speaking at the Command and Control Centre of the headquarters of Joint Task Force “Operation Hadin kai ” in Maiduguri,  Magashi lauded the successes recorded so far in the fight against insurgency in the north east.

“I want to appreciate every everyone in the theatre for a job well done.

“We are hear to put heads together to see how to come out with fresh ideas to finish what we started. Success is not too far away with your determination and commitment..

“The Commander in Chief has been magnanimous in providing us all what we need to contain the challenges in north east and all other troubled areas,” Magashi said.

The minister reiterated the commitment of government to the welfare of military and families of those who lost their lives in service to the nation.

Also speaking, the Theatre Commander,  Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa, lauded the sustained support to the theatre to effectively carried out its assigned tasks.

Musa assured the commitment of the troops to continue to do their best in securing the north east.

“We assure you we will continue to put in our very best. We are committed and determined now more than ever before,” Musa said. (NAN)
