In its bid to motivate its staff across the state to continue rendering effective service delivery in secondary health facilities, the Hospitals Management Board has promoted 1,300 professional staff in July 2021 senior staff promotional interview.

In his message to the staff during the exercise, the Director General of the Board, Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo has called on them to brace up, rededicate themselves and redouble efforts in discharging their official responsibilities diligently.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Board.

The statement added that Dr. Kabo said that the Ganduje led administration is very kind to health workers in the state by ensuring that they are promoted to the next cadre of service without further delay for them to make sure the good people of the state are provided with the best service delivery.

“You should therefore reciprocate the gesture by putting in more efforts in discharging your day to day official responsibilities.”

The Director General stated that promotion exercise is conducted in order to test the ability of a staff and to ascertain his capacity as well to get to know if he or she is really prepared to move on to the next level in the civil service.

“That is why standard committee is formed comprising all line Directors of the Board and some professionals in various fields of health.

“They conduct verbal interview to each and every individual staff due for promotion and provide grades based on answers he or she provides,” enunciated Dr. Kabo.

The Director General eulogized the moral and financial support of Khadimul Islam to the state’s health sector, that “Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been the most health amiable Governor in the history of Kano state. He accords health sector all the needed attention. He is a sole Governor in the country that excels his counterparts in terms of allotting 15% of the total budgetary allocation of his state to health sector as declared in the 2008 Abuja Declaration.”

Dr. Kabo also commended members of the committee for their endurance and steadfastness from beginning to the end of the exercise with a view to ensure that prowess and experiences remain intact among health workers

In his remarks during the exercise, the head of the promotion committee, the Director Admin and General Services of the Board, Bashir Ado Gaya (Sarkin Fadar Gaya), enjoined all health workers across the state to be attending to patients well-mannered at all times and give them the best of services they are in need for, adding that this will give patients some sense of relief even before they are prescribed with the drugs.

He reminded them of Governor Ganduje’s heartwarming regards to their welfare by ensuring their timely promotion and called on them to show gratitude by giving the excellent service delivery they are expected to provide in the facilities, frowning that, “Board will not condone laxity to duty from any health worker.

Whosoever is found intentionally violating the standard rules and regulations and his or her professional ethics will definitely be dealt with according to the civil service rules.”

Bashir Gaya then commended Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo for his consistency in supporting the promotion exercise whenever it arises, stressing that “Dr. Kabo has been very supportive to promotion exercise. He hesitates not to approving all necessary logistics required for efficacious conduct of any promotion exercise. This is a clear indication that that the DG concerns with the welfare of staff of the Board.”

The committee has representation of all departments of the Board; Admin and General Services, Medical, Nursing, Pharmaceutical, Primary Healthcare, Accounts and Maintenance.

There is also representation of the office of the Head of Civil Service and some selected professionals from various secondary health facilities.
