A Makurdi Upper Area Court on Thursday ordered the remand of one Francis Iorbee, 58, alleged to have forged land title documents and fraudulently sold a plot of land for N420,000.
The defendant, who was arraigned on a two-count charge of forgery and fraud, however, pleaded his innocence and denied the allegation.
Magistrate Dooshima Ikpambese ordered the remand of the accused at the Federal Correctional Center, Makurdi and adjourned the case to Feb. 6 for mention.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Rachael Mchiave, told the court that the case was received at State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Dec. 31, 2021.
Mchiave said that the petition dated Dec. 9, 20201, was written by a law firm, Fotteau Law House, on behalf of the complainant, Damian Akombo of Behind Hotel Lucia, Makurdi.
She said that the petition alleged that Iorbee of Adeke Village, Makurdi, sold a plot of land located beside St. Augustine’s Church, Iorbee Makurdi, for N420,000 and executed a sales agreement with the forged signature of the complainant.
The prosecutor said that the defendant’s representation was done knowing same to be false and contrary to Section 365 of Penal Code Law of Benue State 2004. (NAN)
