A prominent Islamic scholar in Kano, Dr Ahmad Bamba, is dead.
He died at the age of 79.
His son Ahmad Ahmad confirmed the death to DAILY NIGERIAN.

According to him, his father died at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital on Friday morning.
His funeral is expected to hold at the Darul Hadith Mosque, Tudun Yola after Friday prayer.
The late Dr Bamba was famous for his long-running Islamic teaching sessions at Bayero University, Kano mosque, which started in 1991.
He was a lecturer at the Department of Arabic in BUK before he resigned to concentrate on his commentaries, particularly on Saheeh Bukhari and Muwatta Malik.
The scholar is survived by three wives, many children and grandchildren.
