An upper Area Court, sitting in Kasuwan Nama, on Thursday has sentenced an 18-year-old, businessman Christopher Essien to three months imprisonment for trespass and attempted theft.

A panel of two Magistrates, Ghazali Adam and Hyacinth Dolnaan sentenced Essien after he pleaded guilty to the offense.

The panel gave him an option to pay a fine of N10,000.

They said that the judgment would serve as a deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal acts.

Earlier, the Prosecutopm Counsel, Monday Dabit told the court that the case was reported on Dec.23, 2021, at the ‘A’ Division Police station by Ifeoma Chidi, the complainant.

Debit said that the convict was caught inside the complainant’s house with a bunch of keys. He said that people reported several housebreaking and theft in the same compound.

The prosecutor said that the offense is punishable under the provisions of Section 333 of the Plateau state Penal Code law.
