A Physician, Dr Tolu Oladapo, has urged Nigerians, including those fully vaccinated, to continue to wear face masks and observe social distancing and other COVID-19 safety measures, as the virus enters its third year.

Oladapo, of Hopevillle Hospital and Maternity, Ibadan, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ibadan.

According to her, regular hand washing and face mask wearing have continued to be important parts of measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.

“Vaccine alone cannot stop the spread of COVID-19.

“We must continue to appeal to people to use face masks consistently, maintain social distancing, practice hand hygiene and stay in well ventilated spaces, to protect ourselves and others,” she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, as of Feb. 20, was 254,293. (NAN)
