Masons at Kwanar Ganduje at Sharada in Kano state have lamented over the unaware notice by the state government, to vacate from leased land.
It was learnt that on 9th Feb 2022, security operatives issued one week notice to the masons to evacuate their property from the land which belongs to the government.
Most of these masons have been leasing on the land for over 18 years creating sustenance for their families and also job opportunities for the unemployed.
Speaking with Chairman of the Masons Association Kwanar Ganduje Chapter, Kabir Hashim Abdullahi expressed dismay over the decision of the government to send them parking.
“We are displeased with the decision of the government because this land has generated daily bread for our family and also others.”
“It is worrisome, most of the masons have no place to relocate, which will increase the rate of unemployment in the community,” He said.
Abdulmuminu Muhammad a Mason at Sharada Kwanar Ganduje bleats that “I have over 30 employees working for me, making blocks, interlocks and bricks, but now they are jobless”.
“The business is not growing as before, and the government has not provided any space for us to relocate our business”.
However, some of the masons have relocated to different places to set up their businesses,”which is not more customer attractive”, they said.
Leaseholders at Sharada Kwanar Ganduje appealed to the government to provide space for them, to enhance their masonry business.
Sources reveal that the Federal Housing Authority FHA is set to erect 1000 shops on the land.
