Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Barau Jibrin has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari on the assent for the establishment of a federal polytechnic in Kano.
Barau, a senator representing Kano north in the red chamber in a statement issued on Tuesday said the establishment of the polytechnic would in no small measure improve access to tertiary education in the state and create more employment opportunities.
‘’Kano as a centre of excellence, the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic in the state would boost industrialization and qualified manpower with technology driven skill to support the manufacturing and service sectors in the state, ‘’the statement said.
‘’The polytechnic when established would provide full-time courses in technology, applied science management and other field of studies.’’
According to the statement , the journey to the establishment of the federal polytechnic started in 2017 when he sponsored the bill for the establishment of the institution in the 8th national assembly.
The statement added that this is a dream and aspiration of Kano people for more federal presence come through.
Recalls that Senate in November, 2018 passed the bills for the establishment of five polytechnics, with that of Federal Polytechnic, Kano to be situated in Kabo inclusive.
