The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has said the low power supply in its coverage area, Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States was due to low generation as a result of gas shortage.

This was disclosed in a press statement made available to journalists, which stated that the low generation has reduced power allocation to KEDCO as the company is now being allocated 120MW on the average out of statutory MYTTO allocation of 368MW.

The statement reads: “The shortfall of 248MW from allocation to KEDCO is responsible for the current massive load shedding to industrial, commercial and residential customers in our coverage area.

“However, those saddled with the responsibility of addressing the challenge from the generation sector are already working on the the gas supply issue.

“We are appealing to our numerous customers to kindly bear with us, as soon as supply improves, we will double our efforts towards providing quality services.”

“On the other hand, we assure our customers that they would soon begin to enjoy value for their money, as projects under CBN meant to improve and expand KEDCO’s network is receiving serious attention from the contractors.”
