The Kano State Government has stated that it is committed and determined to work with any relevant organization or groups to ensure a clean and tidy environment.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, revealed this yesterday night during a routine inspection and monitoring exercise of waste evacuation in Kano metropolis.

The Commissioner commended the public for their cooperation and support in ensuring a successful waste evacuation, but urged them not to relent in ensuring proper waste disposal at this dump site.

To avoid the effects of flooding, the Commissioner, who was represented by Permanent Secretary, Adamu Abdu Faragai, urged residents to practice regular drainage de-silting, especially during this season.

While commenting on people’s support in some areas, he stated that the current administration is passionate and committed to protecting its citizens’ lives and property; however, people are expected to do the necessary by supplementing government-conducted efforts in this direction.

Responding on behalf of the people in the area, the chairman of the self-help groups Dirmin Iya and Rimin Kira, as well as the amalgamated chairman of the Kano Association of Voluntary Organizations, Malan Muttaka Isa, expressed his profound gratitude to the government for the Ministry of Environment’s prompt evacuation of waste in their area and hoped the tempo would be maintained while pledging their continued support and cooperation to achieve the set goals.

This was stated by Ismail Garba Gwammaja, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Environment, in a statement to Daily News 24.
