Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has written to the Academic Staff Union of Universities, requesting a meeting on Tuesday, September 20.

The speaker voiced his concern over the unsuccessful negotiations between the Federal Government and the union in a letter signed by the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Yahaya Danzarta, and addressed to the president of ASUU.

The letter was titled NASS/HR/LEG/03/11/065 and was seen exclusively by our correspondent in Abuja. The date was September 15, 2022, Punch reports.

The letter begins, “The Hon. Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, today invites you to a stakeholders conference to find a sustainable solution to the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ prolonged strike since February 2022.

“The House of Representatives is gravely worried about the resumed strike, which appears to have defied all efforts made by the Federal Government and the striking university professors to find a solution or reach an agreement.”
