Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike called an emergency stakeholders meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday.

This is the first of its kind since his failed presidential bid and subsequent internal party crisis shook the country.

Although the meeting’s agenda was not disclosed, it could be related to a state directive on the next course of action following Wike and his strategic team’s withdrawal from the presidential campaign council of the party’s presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Party leaders, members of the state executive council, local government chairmen, and a few other stalwarts have been invited to the meeting.

Remember that the governor, who believes he was betrayed by the results of the presidential primary and Atiku’s declaration while selecting his vice presidential running mate, had vowed to be transparent about some of the issues that led to the crisis.

Wike was also quoted as saying, “Nothing has happened yet, but something will happen soon.”

At the time of writing, invitees were still arriving at the Rivers State Government House.
