Manchester City claimed a famous derby result on Sunday as Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both netted hat-tricks in a 6-3 Premier League win over Manchester United.

The reigning Premier League champions looked a class above their city rivals in what was a reality check for Erik ten Hag and his men.

It took City just eight minutes to open the scoring, Foden sweeping home Bernardo Silva’s cross in what was the start of a big day for the England international.

The home side doubled their advantage 11 minutes before half-time when Haaland headed home from a corner, before doubling his tally just three minutes later after sliding home a Kevin De Bruyne pass.

The Norwegian turned provider for Foden just before the break has City headed into half-time four goals clear of their neighbours.

United showed signs of life after the break as new signing Antony fired home from 25 yards out, but the goal only seemed to anger City.

Haaland slotted home his third from a Sergio Gomez cross before once again setting up Foden for City’s sixth.

Haaland’s hat-trick means he’s the first player to score three successive Premier League home hat-tricks.

Anthony Martial’s late goal was largely met with indifference by the United supporters still in attendance, with the Frenchman adding a second fro the penalty spot in injury time.
