A non-Governmental Organisation named Action Against Hunger (AAH), Nigeria has organized a three days capacity building training for the media and Civil Society Organisation from kano at Dutse, the capital of Jigawa state.

Speaking during the workshop the Head of Advocacy, Communication, and Strategy of the Organisation Mr. Wilson Ikwebe, said the government had shown commitment to actualizing the framework to improve the leaving standard of the less privileged, through the entrenchment of the National Social Protection Policy in the country.

He said the draft framework which is already updated and submitted to the Federal Government after critical review by stakeholders in April 2022, was optimistic about quick legislative action and executive order on the draft.

“I commend the efforts of some state governments who have already activated commitment to the implementation of social protection policy, like Yobe and Borno, and I hope other state governments would also come onboard.”

Mr. Wilson Ikwebe maintained that the capacity building organized for journalists and members of civil society organizations were designed to stimulate strategic campaign on social accountability.

“Participants are being equipped with the requisite approach, including dialogue, negotiation, and influencing concerned authorities to implement social protection policy.”

He urged the participants to expedite Action in enlightening the public so that they will their constitutional rights and demand social accountability from their representatives at various political offices.

The three-day workshop scheduled to round off on 9th October 2022 attracted participants from the media and CSOs from Kano State.
