The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says troops of operation Awatse have destroyed 15 hectares of marijuana farm at Mabu village in Ijebu LGA of Ogun.
Musa Danmadami, the director of defence media operations, during a bi-weekly press briefing on Thursday, said the farm was discovered and destroyed on October 7.
He said the operation was carried out with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
“On 7 October 2022, troops of Operation AWATSE in the conduct of Operation SWIFT RESPONSE in conjunction with operatives of the NDLEA and NSCDC destroyed 15 hectares of marijuana farm at Mabu village in Ijebu Local Government Area of Ogun State,” he said in a statement.
Earlier in the year, the NDLEA had destroyed a total of 255 hectares of cannabis farms in Ondo state.
Planting or growing cannabis in Nigeria is regarded as a serious offence.
