The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Salihu Yakasai from security custody.
Salihu, popularly known as Dawisu, son of elder statesman Tanko Yakasai, was also recently relieved of his appointment as Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Media.
According to a statement signed by Kola Ologboniyan, the national secretary of the PDP, “Salihu’s alleged detention in a secret facility after his criticism of Buhari’s administration’s failures in the fight against banditry in the country is totally unacceptable.”

“Salihu Yakasai’s ordeal is a sad reminder of the sudden disappearance of another known critic of the Buhari administration, Abubakar Idris, since August 2019,” the statement said.
While condemning the decision of the government by reliving him of his appointment, the statement further noted that “the action of Ganduje has heightened apprehensions on the alleged connections between the All progressives Congress (APC), and bandits pillaging the country”.
The PDP further charged Nigerians to ” hold the APC and its leaders responsible for any escalated acts of banditry and terrorism in Nigeria, as well as harms which suddenly come on the way of well meaning Nigerians who raise their voices against activities of outlaws in the country”.
The PDP also demanded the Kano state Governor, come out clean on the situation, adding that such stances have continued to embolden bandits, while frustrating patriotic citizens who raise their voice against acts of terrorism in the Nation.
