The Kano State Hisbah Board has acknowledged the marriage of a mother who married her daughter’s former suitor in the Rano Local Government Area of the state.
Daily News 24 reports that the woman, Malama Khadija Rano, who was a divorcee, married her daughter’s boyfriend.
The incident occurred after Khadija’s daughter, Aisha, rejected her suitor, which sparked controversy and prompted the Hisbah Board to form a committee to investigate the situation.
The report of the Hisbah committee that probed the marriage was submitted Tuesday evening.
Hussain Ahmed, the chairman of the committee and deputy commander in charge of Hisbah Special Operations, who presented the report, explains that the committee discovered that the marriage was lawful and met all of the necessary criteria.
He said that the woman, Khadija Rano, had been divorced by her former husband and had waited the three months mandated by Islam before marrying a man whom her biological daughter had previously rejected.
Ahmed denied rumors that Khadijah was seeing her new spouse while married and that she forced her husband to divorce her in order for her daughter’s suitor to marry her.
He stated that the marriage was legitimate under Islam, which is why the Hisbah commander in Rano Local Government Area endorsed and participated in the wedding rites.
Sheikh Harun Ibn Sina, Commander General of the Hisbah Board, responded by commending the committee on its outstanding performance.
He claimed that the committee members were carefully chosen because of their extensive knowledge of Islamic principles and social orientation.
