People Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council (PDP PC), yesterday, declared that the alleged threat by All Progressives Congress (APC) standard-bearer, Bola Tinubu, to its Director-General and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, was indicative of how “autocratic” the former Lagos State helmsman could be if elected into office.

Spokesperson of the campaign, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement flayed Tinubu for allegedly encouraging violence against the governor.

He said: “Our Campaign condemns in very strong terms the resort to threat by Senator Tinubu, who is now trying to transfer his annoyance over his failed campaign, as well as the frustration of crushing rejection by Nigerians to the PDP Presidential Campaign.

“It is pathetic that Tinubu, finding it extremely difficult to handle his impending defeat, is now plagued by deep-seated pains, frustration and anger against successful Nigerians, which manifested in his attack on the person of Emmanuel.

“It is crude, to say the least, for Tinubu to have threatened Governor Emmanuel with chasing him (Emmanuel), a democratically elected governor, out of Lagos State.

“Nigerians can now imagine how autocratic a Tinubu presidency, which God forbids, will turn out as vicious, disrespectful, harassing, intimidating and subduing.

“It is, however, instructive to note that Tinubu is intimidated by Emmanuel’s towering achievements, as well as his deft management of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, which have further fortified Akwa Ibom and other states of the federation as PDP strongholds, completely impenetrable to the APC at all levels ahead of the 2023 general elections.”

Besides, the ruling APC has said the quest by Tinubu to be at the helm of the country was a mission accomplished.

Its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, therefore, called on Nigerians to vote for him and other candidates presented by the party.

APC was reacting to the claim by the PDP that the reported cold reception accorded President Muhammadu Buhari while on a state visit to Kano was a pointer that the party was unpopular with Nigerians.

It described the insinuation as “nothing short of a confessional statement of conspiracy to commit a treasonable felony.”

APC maintained that 2023 would go down in “our country’s political history as the year of unmitigated infamy for the PDP.”
