The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has for the second time moved the collation of results for the 2023 presidential election by some hours.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, had on Monday adjourned the collation to 11am on Tuesday to enable the state collation officers for the presidential election (SCOPs) in the remaining states arrived.
The collation of results from the state started on Sunday at the International Conference Centre (ICC) hosting the national collation centre and INEC situation room in Abuja.
Monday’s collation had ended some minutes past 10:00pm.
But addressing newsmen and other accredited persons on Tuesday at 2:05pm, INEC National Commissioner and chairman information and voter education committee, Festus Okoye, said that though results from five states were available, the commission expects at least 10 more states to join the day’s collation.
He had earlier Tuesday at 12:02pm, announced a shift till 2:00pm to enable those that arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) from some states to arrive the ICC.
Daily Trust reports that results from 14 states have formally been released and certified.
Prof. Yakubu received the Results of Ekiti on Sunday and on Monday received the results of Kwara, Osun, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Yobe, Enugu, Lagos, Gombe, Jigawa, Adamawa, Katsina and Nasarawa states.
Okoye said that the collation would now resume by 3:30pm when more states would have arrived and substantial numbers released to prevent intermittent adjournments.
