The police on Thursday, arraigned a 28-year-old man, Peter Adamu, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing.
The defendant, of no fixed address is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
The police prosecutor, Insp Bamikole Olasunkanmi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 27 at about 07:50 p.m at GRA area in Ado-Ekiti.
Olasunkanmi alleged that the defendant stole one iron burglary valued N250, 000, complete casement window valued N300,000, white cement valued N150,000 total valued N700,000 belonging to Akomolafe Ojo.
He said the offence contravened Section 295(1) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, while his counsel, Mrs Korede Onipede, urged the court to grant her client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N60, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until July 14 for hearing.
