One of the newest airlines in the country, Rano Air, says it will commence flight operations on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
The airline, which made this known in a statement on its Twitter handle on Thursday, said the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, would flag off the inaugural flight that would take off from Aminu Kano International Airport.
The announcement reads, “The management of Rano Air wishes to inform the flying public that its flight operations will be flagged off by the Governor of Kano State, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the domestic terminal of the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, at 10:00 a.m.”
“Commercial flights from Abuja and Kano to the various cities of Nigeria will commence immediately thereafter.”
Rano Air is owned by the Kano-born business mogul and oil magnate, Auwalu Rano, who is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of A.A. Rano Group.
The airline, which was incorporated in 2019, acquired five numbers of EMB 145 Sircraft and has its operations base in Abuja.
